Complete List of Illegal Cancer-Causing Shampoos!

You probably love your vanilla scented shampoo or your cocoa soap, but, do you really know if these products are safe for your skin and your overall health?

Unfortunately, your shampoo might not just harm your eyes, but it can also have a detrimental effect on your overall health and well-being. According to a study by the Center for Environmental Health in California, 98 of tested soaps and shampoos contained a possible carcinogen known as cocamide DEA. As pointed out on Health Line, this compound is used as a foaming agent or a thickener in shampoos, conditioners, soaps, and other similar products.

Some of the shampoo brands are Colgate, Palmolive, Paul Mitchell, and Colomer. Even the ones labeled as organic and those for children were filled with dangerous chemicals. Hence, it appears that whenever you shower and wash your hair with some of these shampoos, you are actually showering in carcinogens. Yuck!

No Proper Labeling

A lot of the products that were tested had more than 10,000 ppm of cocamide DEA and none of the 98 products with it contained the warning which is obligatory by state law. Namely, in order to comply with California’s Proposition 65, companies need to provide a clear and reasonable warning for their customers whenever they sell or manufacture products containing chemicals that are considered harmful by the state, including cancerous ones and ones that may trigger birth defects. Cocamide DEA has been on California’s list of dangerous chemicals since 2012 when there was a review showing its cancerous effects in laboratory animals.
