Can dogs really detect cancer in humans?
With certainty, animals are an amazing gift to humanity and we’re learning a lot from them. But, not all humans are treating animals with respect- we use them in experiments, we destroy our homes, and we slaughter them for food.
This being said, a lot of animal activists worldwide are doing their best to help those without a voice. They have the right to be on this planet same as we do.
What’s more, a lot of people know little about animals and that there’s a lot to be discovered about them, particularly about some abilities they may possess, including telepathy, clairvoyance, and other extrasensory perceptions which may be dormant in us.
According to a recent study, dogs may play a crucial role in cancer detection. Namely, three beagles were able to identify lung cancer through a scent.

Dogs Sniff Out Lung Cancer in a Study
According to the researchers’ hypothesis, the dogs’ ability to recognize cancer may help create a new cancer screening method which will be more affordable. Though there is need for additional research on the causes for cancer in the first place, this is excellent news.
The dogs were capable of telling the distinction between blood serum samples from patients with malignant lung cancer with 97 percent precision. This double-blind study can be found in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association.
According to the head of the study and professor at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Thomas Quinn, they’re using the dogs to sort through the scent layers until they recognize the tell-tale biomarkers. Though more work is needed, he believes they’re making excellent progress.
But, Should Animals Be Used for Experiments?
Though this news is beneficial, we cannot but mention that beagles are a type of dogs which are often used for science experiments and a lot of these experiments may be inhumane and cruel.
At the end of the day, if we love animals, we shouldn’t experiment on them. They’re our families, our companions, right?
So, we cannot help but wonder if these dogs have families and whether they’re being taken care of or if they’re only used for experiments.
Without doubt, animals mustn’t be used as experiments; however, this is important news and a positive knowledge about animals. We hope they treated them well during the research and that they’re loved and have families!
