Have you heard about the Vietnamese mossy frogs?-This frog is able to throw its voice up to 10 to 13 feet and has some impressive skills for disguise.
Plus, it’s very hard to spot them in the wild because of their strong disguising skills! This frog, a lot like other camouflaging animals, has this skill to be able to protect themselves from predators and others to catch prey.
There are spiders which transform into tree barks and lizards that take on the color of tree branches or plants they’re hiding on.
Moreover, the Mediterranean octopus can disguise itself on the seabed in order to catch prey, but also to escape from bigger predators.
Indeed, some animals are masters of this innate biological advantage that helps them survive, in this or that way. But, this frog is definitely the master of disguise-here’s why.
One of the Best Disguise Animals in the World
The Vietnamese Mossy From or the Theloderma corticale has one of the most elaborate covering strategies, at least that’s what the Smithsonian’s reports.
The common name mossy frog is directly inspired the frog’s skin which is very similar to the green moss we see growing on trees. This is why you can’t even notice them standing on these rocks-you’ll think they’re smaller rocks or moss.
Their high art of disguise isn’t the only notable feature. They’re also known for their unique voice-they can throw it up to 10 and 13 feet. So, you may hear their voice from somewhere thinking they’re near when in fact they may be far away.
The Rosamund Gifford Zoo explains that you can find them in the northern Vietnamese rivers and streams. These amphibians have black, green, and red colors along their mossy skin, as well as an uneven bumpy texture.
Their disguise ability helps them stay safe from predators and also catch food for themselves.
