This professor at the Texas Southern University is being praised for the amazing kindness he did for one of his students.
Ebony Greenfield who’s pursuing a MD while being an expectant mom thought that she will easily handle the semester. However, her baby, Carter, had other plans and came to the world a bit earlier.
Yet, Greenfield had already registered for the classes.
She explains she still kept her persistence to get the degree and offer a better life for her son.
However, the new arrival caused a new dilemma for the aspiring student and new momma-how will she care for her baby and still attend the lectures?
Greenfield explains that teachers often say that students shouldn’t bring children to class. She believed it was a thing too; not taking your children to classes.
Greenfield Takes Baby Carter to a Lecture, Gets Amazing Support from Professor
After she waited for a couple of weeks to jump back to the studies, one day, she took her baby to a film writing lecture.
At first, she says how she was hesitant, but then said to herself ‘you know what? I’m going to go’.
And, her professor, Dr Tyrone Dixon was more than supportive; he even offered to hold the baby so she could take notes. Greenfield says she was positively surprised and couldn’t believe this was happening.
We don’t see teachers holding kids all the time, but yet, Dixon did it. He cradled the baby and soothed him in his arms while teaching his students a lesson.
Professor Dixon notes that educators are there to lift up students. He says he had to hold Carter and give his student a chance to learn what they’re talking about.
He believes that his students are determined and focused and ready to get what they want. And, he feels it’s his duty to show them full support while they’re pursuing a degree and a possibility for a better life.
He is firm on the stance that teachers should keep an open mind, support their students, and accept their life circumstances and think about ways they can be helpful.
This small act of kindness will definitely have long-lasting impact.
Greenfield recalls going home after the class and crying because she was full of joy.
