Football Celeb Brady Oliveira Raises Money for Rescue Animals in Need

Brady Oliveira, the Canadian football player running back for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League, is raising money to help out rescue animals in Mexico. Oliveira isn’t new to doing charity for animals.

Moreover, he regularly encourages a vegan diet on his Instagram and often shares some behind-the-scenes at different rescues with his followers.

A Football Player with a Huge Love for Animals

He’s moving things up a bit by asking the public to help him out in his animal-saving mission. In his recent Instagram post, he shared that he’s currently in Mexico and working with the local rescue groups.

He wrote that their mission is simple. Regardless of where a person is in the world, we can all contribute to reducing overpopulation by saving one life at a time.

He also emphasized that the rescues are in need of medical attention, yet the volunteers are usually unable to afford all of these expensive treatments.

This is where Oliveira wanted to help and opened up a GoFundMe. On this page, he explains that he’ll be in Mexico for six weeks and the goal is to save as many animals as possible while he’s there.

The money raised will be used for vet bills, flight escorts, meds, food, etc.

Oliveira Has a Rescue Pet & Has Helped a Person Save Her Drowning Dog

In 2020, while walking his rescue pet Nellie, he noticed a dog owner who was having a problem. Namely, Ashley Bourgeois was walking near the Red River, desperately calling for her dog who fell over into the water.

Bourgeois was panicking and she thought she was going to lose her pet. It was a 10-foot dropdown. She thought fast and removed everything from her pockets and went down the steep hill. She was knee-high into the water calling for her dog, trying to reach him.

This is when Oliveira also went in and grabbed the woman’s arm, leaned, and grabbed the dog too.

He said that the dog was around 90 pounds and even heavier in the water. He caught the dog’s collar and then it was all good.

Oliveira has worked with the K9 Advocates, a non-profit for assisting dogs in the rural First Nation communities and reducing overpopulation.
