Randy Waites found his long-lost brother Eddie Waites in the most unusual way: while he was watching the local weather report news. After being apart for 50 years, the two brothers met for the first time, thanks to their local news station.
Randy grew up without knowing his dad and he was watching the weather news on the NBC affiliate KCRA-TV one day in December last year when the man who was being interviewed had the same last name as his.
He wondered if they were related.
Randy & Eddie Reunite After 50 Years of Being Apart
The daughter of Randy also suspected that there may be a link between the two. She spotted Eddie’s features and noticed how much he looks like her dad, especially in the eyes.
At first, this connection seemed a bit far-fetched; however, Eddie said that he knew that it was real once he saw Randy. He says he saw their dad in him.
It was a surreal experience, not just to have a brother, but to find out you have a family you never knew of before, it’s something beyond words, added Eddie.
This reunion brought up a new thing for Randy too. He has never gotten a chance to meet his dad and never even see a photo of him so Eddie has been sending him photos of him, of their grandad, and adding up on that side of family history that Randy knew nothing about.
The two brothers have met for the first time on a weekend, and greeted each other with a big hug. It’s still unbelievable for both of them, said Randy.
