Anthony Harris from the Philadelphia Eagles went to Texas to escort one of his young fans to her daddy-daughter dance after she lost her dad and grandpa.
The 11-year-old Audrey Soape’s dad and granddad passed away last year and the girl was feeling sad because she had no one to accompany her on the approaching daddy-daughter dance at her church in Round Rock.
Holly, Audrey’s mom, wanted to do something special for Audrey so she wrote to their favorite NFL player Harris and asked him if he would like to be the one who would take the girl to the dance.
They were amazed when Harris accepted the offer.
Amazing Generosity & a Magical Evening Audrey Will Never Forget
Thanks to the grace of God and the wonderful generosity of the Anthony Harris Foundation, the girl was escorted by Harris at the daddy-daughter dance and had a really good time.
They danced all evening, took plenty of photos, and he didn’t forget to bring the girl her dream dress and shoes! The girl praised his kindness and said how he was so sweet the whole night and made everything about her.
According to Harris, Holly would often contact him on social media to ask how her family could pray for him. He said this was them opening their arms. The girl had a dreamy evening and she was smiling all the time.
The first contact was in 2019 on social media. Harris, a Minnesota Viking at the time, shared a photo of cleats in honor of his late grandpa. Holly messaged him and said she was sorry for his loss and he thanked her.
The Third Time She Reached Out to Him, She Had a Big Ask
Holly reached out to him once more when her husband died. Two years later, she wrote to him again, but this time she had a big ask.
Harris says these are the moments we cherish because we never know how much time left we have in this world. The people we care for and the people we love need to be supported by us.
Despite the circumstances that connected the two being tragic, the unforgettable night put a smile on the grieving girl’s face. She said this will always remind her of her dad who loved her so much.
