This dog is being called a hero after it helped rescuers find his owner who went missing on the 3rd of May in Katy, a suburb in Houston, Texas, while they were on a walk together.
Sherry Noppe was luckily found alive on an early Friday morning after her black labrador retriever Max alerted the rescuers and they came to the woman’s location in the woods.
This was explained in a tweet shared by the Harris County Constable Precinct 5 office.
Our Most Faithful Companions: Our Dogs
According to Constable Ted Heap, they were relieved after finding Sherry Noppe, who was reported missing since Tuesday, in George Bush Park.
Noppe was found at around 3 am by a group of amazing volunteers and deputies who were brought to the location by the barking dog Max.
According to Heap and a follow-up tweet, it’s a miracle that Noppe is alive after she’s been missing for so long out in the woods.
The rescue out of the woods went well and Noppe was taken to the hospital for proper medical evaluation. The tweet by the office also thanked the @TexasEquuSearch and the other volunteers who didn’t think of giving up at any second.
The woman was treated for dehydration and some minor cuts and bruises in the local hospital.
Noppe Was Recently Diagnosed with Dementia
In a press conference, her daughter Courtney said that her mom is doing surprisingly well considering the time she spent in the great outdoors and the conditions that were expected.
The family is beyond grateful. Her kids are appreciative of their loving Max for alerting the rescuers to their mom’s location. They say that he saved her life and that he is their hero forever.
The dog was without a leash and collar, yet he was near her side for three days, which is impressive and shows the pure heart and loyalty of a dog.
Noppe was recently diagnosed with dementia and she was located after being lost thanks to her dog that was constantly barking and the rescuers heard him after turning off their ATVs.
Courtney emphasized that hearing that her mother was found was the greatest news she’s ever gotten. For them, it was a real blessing to bring their beloved mom home on Mother’s Day and that weekend was the most special one for the reunited family.
Max is very special to the family and they’re sentimentally connected-he was the dog of Noppe’s son who passed away two years ago. He is the family’s last thing of him so getting the two back is a silver lining.
Max is also in good health and he was checked out by a vet after leaving the park. He also got a bath, said the family.
