Ladies, if you are reading this, it is time to head out to nature! This may be the relief you have long been looking for, a study has concluded. Women who live in nature or are spending a lot of time in nature have longer life spans.

This is believed to be a result of the nature’s capacity to lower the stress and enhance your physical and social activity. Continue reading the article to learn more details about this pivotal discovery.

Study on the Link between Women & Nature

The 8-year long study happened between the years of 2000 and 2008 and it had 108,630 female participants. During this period of time, 8,604 women passed away. Different factors were taken into account, including their age, smoking, race, and socioeconomic status.

The researchers discovered that those participants who lived in the greenest surroundings had a 12 percent lower chance for mortality in comparison to the ones living in places with scarce or little vegetation. The most common cause for deaths had to do with respiratory and cancerous diseases.

What Is the Connection between Long Life & Greenery?

Nowadays, life has drastically changed from what it once looked like. Today, we spend most of our days inside our houses and cars and because a large part of the day is spent sitting, we are much less physically and socially active as it was the case in the past. Unfortunately, the chances for depression are much higher in people who are not sufficiently physically and socially active.

This being said, it appears logical that women living in natural surroundings and a lot of greenery will experience fewer of the negative impacts on the health and well-being of excessive noise, air pollution, and extreme heat.

According to the researchers, living in a greener area allows for more opportunity to be physically active and to interact. This is why we usually feel calmer and peaceful when outdoors and in nature. The participants in the study who lived near greener places experienced 30 percent lower risk of depression. Wow!
