DIY Calendula Cream Recipe
You will need:
A cup of olive or jojoba oil
A bunch of calendula flowers, dried
1 ounce of beeswax
Water
A cup of room temperature water
10 to 20 drops of your favorite essential oil
A blender
A heatproof bowl
A pot
Mason jars
A blender
Preparation: First, you need to prepare the calendula oil. Do this by steeping the dried flowers and the cup of the oil in a closed jar for a couple of weeks. Or, if you want to get done faster, heat the oil and flowers in a slow cooker for 12 hours and then wait for the mixture to cool down and infuse overnight.
Afterwards, strain the content into another jar or a tin. You will get a cup of yellow calendula oil.
Now, it is time to prepare the cream.
Put several cups of water in a pot and bring it to boil. Add two cups of the warmed water in the blender so that you heat the glass and avert the cream from sticking onto the sides. Put one heatproof bowl on top of the boiling water to make a double boiler. Pour a cup of the calendula oil into the bowl on top and the beeswax too.
Mix gently until the beeswax melts. Then, remove the double boiler from the heat and add the essential oils to the bowl. Mix. Pour out the water from the blender and add the oil and beeswax mixture.
Put the lid onto the blender, but remove the filler cap. Blend on low speed and slowly pour a cup of the room temperature water. Blend until the cream becomes homogeneous. Transfer the content into jars or tins and leave it to set down prior to usage.
Store it in the fridge and use it within a month.
