Using old parts from cars to build other models isn’t something unknown; however, hearing that they’re being used to make a mini bike is much rare.
Brent Walter, ‘the maker and the builder of variety of things’ as he likes to describe himself, made the VW Mini Bike or the Volkspod.
As the very name says, the automotive is a small pod-shaped two wheeler, inspired by the timeless Volkswagen Beetle design.
The Volkswagen Beetle Type 1 or the ‘Bug’ was quite the iconic vehicle since the moment it was released.
The Amazing VW Mini Bike/Volkspod Is Pretty Amazing
The Bug’s adorable bulbous structure won people’s heart in the 90s with its production lasting until the year of 2003.
As homage to the Bug, Walter used the corner fenders to create this beautiful mini motorbike. His Instagram audience followed his progress on the daily on his Instagram page.
These 4 vintage fenders are joined together to create the head and the taillight system of the Volkspod.
The original, green one boasts a 79cc engine and Walter explains it’s as or even more dynamic than the Beetle Type 1. The other or the blue one has more ground clearance and its motor is 212cc.
The latter is considered more practical for the road.
Walter’s Project Is Successful
The small scooter seems as if it came right out of the 90s with its wide handlebar and the bulb-like head and taillight.
It reminds a lot of one-eyed Cyclops or Mike Wazowski from the Monsters, Inc. movie. It’s quite eccentric and has an otherworldly appeal.
It’s available in the shades of the original Beetle, that is, birch green and pastel blue. It’s an amazing choice for people who love retro stuff, including their cars and bikes.
And, you needn’t be a car enthusiast to recognize the iconic appearance of the Volkswagen Beetle- a car that was produced for a total of 65 years.
Even though some would probably think that it’s not easy to find the fenders for these old cars, Brent claims it’s not quite the case- actually- it’s easy finding various parts from the Beetle, especially at swap meetings.
