Meet Magnolia Earl: the First Adopted Child Named a Gerber Baby

Watch out everyone-there’s a new Gerber baby in town and she’s so cute- Magnolia Earl who celebrated her first birthday on the 9th of May this year was chosen as the 2020 Gerber Baby.

Though she’s the definition of sweet, her election is historical for a different reason-she’s the first adopted baby featured in the campaign as of its beginning in 1928.

Her parents, Russell and Courtney Earl officially adopted her last year after a 6-month wait.

Magnolia also has two older sisters- Whitney who’s 12 and Charlotte who’s 8 and also adopted.

Courtney finds this amazing- it means that when people see families that don’t ‘match’, they don’t have to ask questions about the belonging of anyone in that family.

Russell shares the same views and added that family should be built on love-although they differ from each other physically, they’re one family.

Family Is Love-Although They Look Different, They’re One

Courtney previously informed the birth parents of Magnolia of being a finalist in the competition. She finds her birth parents the real heroes-they chose her life and are the ones who sent her on this journey.

She describes the pride in their voice for this little girl– Courtney says that together with them and their family and community, they all have big love for this baby girl.

Magnolia has joined an amazing line of firsts for Gerber; Lucas Warren was the first Down syndrome child to grace the campaign whereas Kairi Yang was the first Hmong descent baby to be chosen amongst 540,000 contestants last year.

The company Gerber said in their official statement that ‘every baby is a Gerber baby’.

In the 10 years they’ve hosted the Photo Search, they’ve proudly featured babies of a long list of backgrounds- this year is no exception with Magnolia- the first adopted Gerber.

What Are the Benefits of Being the Gerber Baby?

Magnolia will be now featured on the social media channels and marketing campaigns of the brand.

Also, her family will get a $25,000 prize, $1,000 in clothes from the Gerber Childrenswear, $1,000 from Walmart, and free phones with 1 year of unlimited service from Verizon.
