Millenials Are Now Living in Pods in their Parents’ Yards

These home pods are ideal homes for young couples. You’ll love its design and how it looks…

Jag Virdie is a former Roll Royce engineer who designed this living pod back in 2015. It’s known as the Conker and reminds of a soccer ball and offers amazing transitional living space.

It’s a spherical spin on tiny home living that can be bought for $24,000 and it’s constructed from recycled plastic and aluminium and inset with porthole windows.

Despite the diminutive 3.9-metre diameter, the cabin can fit a bed, a kitchenette, and a washing station.

The creator says their mission is to change how buildings are being made today by going away from the norm and challenging constructions at the core.

Virdie first designed the pod for his children and believed that a spherical tree house is a great idea.

An Amazing Space for Young Couples They Can Customize

The conker dwelling shaped like a ball is set on metal stilts and can be adapted for various terrains. Thanks to its shape, it’s suitable for heat recovery and rainwater collection.

Living Pod can be also dressed in various skins, ranging from grass-green camouflage to a black and white soccer ball-like design, depending on what its use will be and its location.

This pod is suitable for remote locations and thanks to its 4 minimal anchor points; its impact on the ground is almost zero.

You can also connect the pod with another bigger household.

However, this isn’t the sole spherical tiny home there is-in Vancouver, the bauble hotel rooms can be found suspended among the trees in the Qualicum Beach complex.

Virdie Doesn’t Plan on Stopping

Virdie claims that the pod is an ideal way to start a beautiful program. He’s looking at smaller and bigger ones that will feature three or more bedrooms and even a full house.

If you want to purchase your own tiny pod, you can choose between an off-the-grid, a plug-in hybrid or plug-in version.
