Brave Hikers Face Miles of Icy Mountain Trails to Bring Back Home a Stranded Dog

Neesha is a sweet and a very lucky and brave 8-year-old golden retriever.

Thanks to a hiking couple who spotted her when she got lost, in spite of the harsh weather, she was reunited with her loving family.

Namely, two weeks before she was stranded, Neesha’s owners took her and their other dog, Harley, a German shepherd, for a walk into the mountains. However, when a deer appeared, the dogs got scared and took off.

Although Harley managed to find its way back to the parking lot the next day, sweet Neesha was nowhere to be found.

The Family Search for Neesha, but They Could not Locate Her

When they realized Neesha disappeared, they did a thorough search and even left a laundry basket full of unwashed clothes near the area where they last saw her in hopes that the familiar scent would help her.

They also used drones and turned to the internet in case anyone saw her. But, there was no sign of Neesha.

After more than 10 days of unsuccessful search, the owners started to accept that maybe, Neesha won’t return home. They thought there was no way she could survive on her own for two weeks.

Brave & Kind Hikers Save Neesha

Two doctors, Ciara Nolan and Jean Francois Bonnet, are hikers who braved the elements on a harsh weather when they decided to reach one of the Wicklow’s peaks.

While near the top, Nolan was shocked to spot a dog that was shivering in the snow, curled up to some rocks.

They saw that the dog was cold and terrified and had no energy for standing up or barking. They reached to her and tried to get her to walk; unfortunately, she couldn’t stand up.

This is when they immediately covered her up with their clothes and gave her food. Then, Nolan lifted Neesha onto the back of Bonnet as they were preparing for the 10 km hike down the mountain.

After they fell several times because of the ice, Nolan came up with a creative way to strap Neesha to Bonnet’s backpack using her scarf. And, they successfully reached the grounds.

Neesha’s Back Home, Happier than ever Before

They immediately took the dog to the Ash Animal Rescue.

Sadly, she lost a lot of weight and was dehydrated. Still, she only had a couple of bruises and scrapes, nothing serious.

The admin of the Ash Animal Rescue page on Facebook said that when Ciara gave them a call, they were very excited as they realized Neesha had been found.

They immediately reached out to her family who were beyond grateful that she survived in such a harsh weather.

They’re grateful for the doctors because Neesha wouldn’t be home if it wasn’t for them. They say they are the most amazing and unbelievable people whom they will never be able to thank enough.
