Gay Couple Adopts a 17-Year-Old Boy Rejected by 9 Foster Families

A couple from Tennessee is now proud parents of a 17-year-old boy who spent 5 long years in the foster care system.

Paul and Chad Beanblossom from Pigeon Forge from Tennessee adopted their son Michael in an unusual way-through a Zoom call as the court proceedings have been paused because of the pandemic.

The Zoom call was attended by 80 people in total-including the family, friends, and the adoption specialists. All of them were part of a special moment of love.

According to Chad, the judge said it was the largest adoption on Zoom she had done until now.

The Amazing Story of the Beanblossoms & Michael

The couple first took Michael as a foster child in 2019. Michael’s mother had died and he went into custody of the state. He had gone through 9 homes in 5 years.

When he came to them, he was labeled as a ‘higher risk’ because he had run off previously. However, the Beanblossoms explain they’ve never seen that child.

With them, he just came in and won them over. They say they’ve learned so much from him and now, they’re proud to say their world revolves around him.

Chad and Paul have been married for 5 years and Paul has 3 biological children and they’re also grandparents. They also fostered several other children before Michael; however, when Michael asked from them to be his fathers, they know this was it.

They wanted what he did and it’s now difficult to imagine a life without him.

They’re Excited for the Future

Allyson Sayne, a family services worker in the Tennessee Department of Children Services said that the couple’s advocating for Michael has been great.

Prior to Michael’s adoption, the Beanblossoms had a tragedy-there was a house fire.

Still, they didn’t allow this to set them back and affect the adoption of the boy.

They only worried about staying together-Sayne says she’s happy for the family and excited about the future. Michael is looking forward to start his senior year in high school where he’ll also be playing football.
