Shelter Dog Saves the Life of the Man Who Rescued Her

When one Brian Myers saved the life of a shelter dog in September, he didn’t know that she’ll return the favor one day.

Namely, last summer, this 6-year-old German shepherd named Sadie was given over to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge in New Jersey. Poor thing was confused and lost in the suddenly new reality.

According to the staff from the shelter, Sadie was a fierce, intelligent, and loyal dog; however, she was quite nervous around men and her protective nature made the rehoming a bit more challenging.

Sadie Finally Finds a Forever Home

Sweet Sadie was confused about what was happening when she first arrived in the shelter, according to the front office manager there.

The staff added she seemed a bit shut-down in the beginning so they were worried if a new home will appear soon.

One month later, Brian Myers came into the shelter and picked out Sadie from all the rest. And, when he learned that she had some issues with men, he promised to help change that.

Sadie looked like an amazing dog, he explained, and he decided on the adoption in the first half an hour. The doggo jumped into his car and they started building a strong connection.

Slowly, he worked through her problems and promised her a home with kindness, love, and respect.

Their bond grew and few months, they were the happiest. But, things changed.

Sadie Nearly Loses Her Family for the 2nd Time

One night, Myers experienced a stroke. He fell on the ground and Sadie saw her human dad was in pain. She refused to leave his side and started licking his face.

She began crying and tried to alert the neighbors that something wasn’t right.

Myers was unable to stand and Sadie decided to do everything she could. He caught her on the collar and she started pulling him across the room to reach the phone.

Myers later explained how Sadie knew her dad was in trouble and stressed. She started to pull with all her strength and helped him get his phone to call for help.

Later, Myers managed to call for help and they transported him to the hospital. He’s recovering in the rehab center.

When he’s away from home, Sadie is being taken care of by relatives, but is definitely counting the days when she’ll be able to see her beloved daddy again.

Although they FaceTime, which seems to leave Sadie a bit confused, it still reassures her that he’s there, doing his best to reunite as soon as possible.

Myers wants to raise people’s awareness about shelter dogs and show how special they can be. Indeed, he never gave up her and in his darkest hour, she did the same.

Myers misses her a lot and promised to never forget her heroism on that scary night.
