This quick-thinking Californian cashier helped save a woman’s life from potential kidnappers.
The surveillance camera at the gas station caught the moment when a woman, who according to the kidnappers was taken from Fresno and sexually assaulted, got away from the kidnappers by asking the cashier for help.
Cashier Helps a Kidnapped Woman
She convinced the kidnappers to let her go to the bathroom. The woman walked into a Waterford gas station and asked the first person she spotted for help.
This was the cashier Savannah Pritchett- she recalls the woman telling her ‘I was kidnapped and they have guns. Please lock the door. They will kill us or kill me. ‘
This is when the 24-year-old cashier realized the seriousness of the situation and made a decision right away.
The woman told her she had no phone and the cashier reached for her cellphone from her pocket.
She told her she’ll call the Stanislaus County and give her the phone.
Pritchett took the woman into the back of the store in the bathroom and locked the door. She told her to wait and not open the door until the sheriffs arrive.
The two suspect kidnappers, 18 and 16, waited outside and the camera showed them pacing around. But, when Pritchett locked the front door, they tried to get in.
After she hid the victim, the cashier unlocked the store and told them she was in the restroom.
Thanks to the Cashier’s Quick Reaction, this Woman’s Life Was Saved
According to Sgt. Tom Letras from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, being brought into a secured restroom and given a phone may have saved this woman’s life.
The deputies arrived fast with guns drawn and stormed into the store. All of this was caught on the camera. They got the 18-year-old Anthony Sandoval on the ground and arrested him, as well as the 16-year-old one kidnapper.
They had guns in the car. Pritchett cannot help but wonder what could’ve happened to the woman if she hadn’t believed her.
