Japanese Public Schools Will no Longer Be Allowed to Check the Color of the Students’ Underwear

The board of this Japanese school has finally ended a terrifying practice during which the members of the staff had to check the color of the students’ underwear. If it wasn’t the right color, there were consequences.

Yes, you’ve read correctly-students’ underwear was checked out to see if it complies with the rules. The school had a white-only dress code.

According to some sources, the teachers pulled the female students’ bra straps to see the color or inspected the kids and teens while changing for their gym classes to make sure they have the right color of underwear.

Finally, an End to the most Unusual Rule in Japanese Schools

The Department of Education from the Japanese Prefecture Saga did an investigation of 51 schools in total in the area and found out that in 14 of them, there were restrictions in terms of uniforms and students were required to wear white underwear.

After serious concerns about how the staff continued enforcing this bizarre rule and violation of the kids’ privacy, the education board made an official announcement that the 14 schools end this rule.

Hence, there are no longer any rules concerning the underwear students wear.

In the meantime, the board also ended rules in two schools which prohibited that the students wear lap blankets in school.

However, this is often essential as many schools don’t heat up their buildings, even in winter.

The authorities are hopeful that other prefectures in the country will also follow the footsteps of Saga and help in ending these bizarre and violating practices throughout their schools.
