Utah Cheerleader Receives an Emotional Homecoming after Having both Legs Amputated

This teen from Utah is a real inspiration to her community and people worldwide by sharing her journey after having both legs amputated.

The 17-year-old Sarah Frei received an emotional homecoming parade in Syracuse. The teen had to undergo an amputation after she was in a car accident with three friends.

Their car was hit by a drunk driver. After a period in rehabilitation and 20 surgeries in total, young Sarah got a surprise: a homecoming parade especially for her.

A Brave Teen Who Deserves the Best Send-Off

Physical therapists, her cheerleading squad, the doctors, and nurses from the University of Utah gave sweet Sarah a warm send-off as she headed home.

What she didn’t know is that her homecoming was just starting.

Escorted by the police, she was treated to a welcome home parade. All of her family, friends, and neighbors came to the streets to show their support to Frei as she was adjusting to life back home.

Sarah said she couldn’t believe so many people came and it felt awesome. The public follows her journey on her Instagram @Strong.Like.Sarah which the family set up and gained worldwide attention.

A Girl Who’s Been through a lot Is Still Smiling with the Support of Her Loved Ones & the Community

With more than 59K followers, Sarah is being cheered on throughout her rehabilitation. People praise her smile and optimism and say she’s inspiring.

In one of her posts, Sarah was talking to her aunts and how what happened has happened and she can’t do anything about it, besides controlling her reactions and attitude.

Her mom, Amy Frei says that this has been a good lesson for everyone to know. Once the restrictions in the hospital loosened, Frei was able to spend more time with her siblings and friends.

When she was still in the hospital, her homecoming dance date and two other friends came to “pick her up”. They were dressed up and wore masks. They took photos before they took her with them virtually so she doesn’t miss out on the dance.

Once she was released, Sarah joined them at the final home game.

She put on her uniform and wore a big smile on her face. While she was in the hospital, she learned the dance that her fellow cheerleading squad made for her.

Her mom said it was amazing seeing how far she’s gotten. At first, they didn’t know if she’s going to make it so seeing her perform with her team was pure happiness.

What Are Sarah’s Plans for the Future?

Although she’s currently learning online, she wants to make most of her senior year and live life to the fullest.

After her graduation, she’s planning to enroll in college and study to become an elementary school teacher.

Her mom says that Sarah is full of positivity and repeats she’s going to be okay and asks them not to be sad for her.
