The Future Is Here: Flying Car Completes Test Flight between Airports in 35 Minutes

This prototype flying car finished the first-ever test flight between Slovakian airports in 35 minutes. The AirCar, a dual-mode car-aircraft vehicle, traveled from the Nitra airport to the Bratislava airport.

Its creator, the company Klein Vision, notes that this car finished its 142nd successful landing and that this flight is an important milestone in its development.

The Future Is Here: Flying Car Finishes First Flight Successfully

According to its inventor, Professor Stefan Klein, this aircraft, with only a click of a button, becomes a sports car in less than three minutes.

Klein was also the one who drove it first.

When he came out of the car after the test, he said that this flight has opened up a new era of vehicles that enable dual transportation. It will bring back the freedom that cars provide back to the drivers.

He also added that the AirCar isn’t only a proof of concept, but it has turned science fiction into reality by flying at 8200ft at a speed of 115 m/h.

The company senior technical fellow of Boeing, Dr. Branko Sarh, praised Klein for his development of user-friendly cars that fly.

He also added that the automated transition from the road into an air vehicle and vice versa isn’t just the product of pioneering enthusiasm, courage, and innovation, but an outcome of premium engineering and knowledge.

What Does the Flying Car Look like?

The AirCar Prototype 1 has 160 horsepower BMW engine, a fixed propeller, and a ballistic parachute.

It has finished more than 40 hours of test flights and reached a maximum cruising speed of 118 m/h. According to the chief executive of European operations of Hyundai, this achievement comes at a time when the hype for flying cars is on the rise.

He believes that they will be a reality throughout cities worldwide before the decade ends. Recently, the South Korean carmaker General Motors announced they’ll also begin developing flying cars.
