Florida Couple Makes a ‘Door of Kindness’ to Help Spread Kindness in their Community

A lovely couple who lives in Orlando, Florida has come up with a one-of-a-kind way to bring joy and kindness in their loving community. And, the name is really inspiring-they call it the door of kindness.

Tim and Jessa moved into their new apartment recently and didn’t wait to make a positive influence on their neighbors.

Namely, shortly after settling in their new place, the couple put a table with pens and post-it notes in front of their front door. This is how they motivate their neighbors to spread kindness by writing a positive and supporting message and hanging it on the door.

Shortly after the couple set up the ‘door of kindness’, notes started appearing on the door. With the days passing by, the door was filled with so many lovely notes of encouragement and positivity.

What Was the Inspiration for the Door of Kindness?

According to Jessa, she was inspired to do this after she used to give pens with encouragement notes at her workplace as a waiter. Some of these pens had messages like “your past doesn’t define you” and “you’re loved and you’re beautiful”.

She thought how it made her feel awesome and she gifted them to her customers so that they knew how much she valued them all.

She explains that you can never know what a customer went through during the day or how they may pass on the pen to someone they know will need it more than they do.

This was Jessa’s way of letting others know that they’re perfect and that they matter.

She recalls that she’s received hugs, tears, and a lot of gratitude for her kindness that she will never forget. Jessa also added that this motivated her customers to share some of their life stories with her and she knew she helped them feel heard and seen.

Her New Neighbors already Love the Door of Kindness

When she moved into her new apartment, she realized that people would pass by her door on the daily and placed both the pens and the sticky notes. She encourages her neighbors to take a pen and write a positive message.

So, when people who’re having a bad day pass through the notes and read them, they feel supported. The couple is amazed by the feedback.

So many residents came up to them and told them how their door looks fabulous and what an awesome idea they’ve come up with.

We’re already in love with this idea; what about you: what is an awesome thing you’re proud of that’s helped bring positivity to your community?
