Although most dogs show their affection for humans by wagging their tails and giving them a lot of licks, one popular golden retriever from New York does it differently.
Loboutina, the Golden Retriever that Likes Hugs a LOT
The sweet Lobоutina or Loubie is the cutest dog who displays her love for others by giving them the cuddliest of hugs.
Whenever she goes on walkies with her owner Cesar Fernandez-Chavez, Loubie makes it special. She’s very friendly and always insists on stopping and greeting every person on the sidewalk.
She stops to pet them and wraps her forelegs around their knees. She’s a real sweetie! Her owner says that Loubie learned this behavior on her own. She’s a cuddly dog and she’s friendly even with complete strangers.
This is why walking around the streets of New York with Loubie is quite the experience. But, because of her hugging needs, her owner says that they don’t get many walks because it’s mostly hugging!
Loubie also Likes to Hold Paws & She’s a Real Show-Stopper
Before Loubie became obsessed with hugs, she wanted to paw hold people. This hand-holding behavior started one Valentine’s Day in 2014, shortly after her owner got out of a long relationship.
Fernandez-Chavez explains that Loubie would sit up and grab his hands with both of her paws and then cross one paw over the other. He remembers joking with his friends that at least he has someone to hold hands with on Valentine’s Day.
But this also became her favorite activity and she started seeking handholding whenever she got out on the streets of bustling New York. Every walk was Loubie trying to paw someone and showing them her affection.
Soon after, her newest favorite cuddling activity was hugging people’s legs. Chavez first thought this was weird, but somehow allowed Loubie to keep doing it.
Loubie’s habit of hugging continued and it just grew stronger. She gives her hugs to others and loves making new friends and spreading love. She’s the best! Chavez adds that they often run into people they know and Loubie will immediately approach to hug them.
When strangers see her, they also come to them, eager for a hug from Loubie! Loubie is quite popular on social media because, who can get enough of her hugs, right?
Loubie Can Be Very Picky in Her Hugging at Times
Although Loubie likes to hug everyone, sometimes, she doesn’t want to hug just anyone. She’s sometimes very picky and the pooch will hug just those people she feels a connection with.
Chavez says that when people run up and ask for a hug from Loubie, he tells them that she will need to bond first and then hug them.
