ABB is a Swiss engineering company that has launched what they claim to be the fastest electric car charger in the world.
It’s capable of recharging an electric car in just 15 minutes. Electric cars are increasingly popular; however, they have a major downside.
This is the time-consuming process of recharging. Even with the top-quality chargers today, you’ll need an hour or more if you want to charge the car 100 percent.
However, ABB claims they’re on the path to change this with their Terra 360 modular charger.
Recharging Electric Vehicles in 15 Minutes with the Terra 360 Modular Charger
The Terra 360 modular charger is capable of recharging up to four cars at once. ABB explains that this new charger offers 62 miles of range in under three minutes when the focus is one vehicle.
For comparison, the Supercharger by Tesla offers 200 miles of range in 15 minutes while for the same period, you’ll get at least 310 miles if you charge it with the Terra.
The company is hopeful and working towards making this charger available throughout Europe by the end of this year. They also have an ambitious goal of making it internationally available, including the US, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific regions by the year 2022.
ABB’s charger that has the power to charge four vehicles at once is targeting urban charging stations, refueling charging stations, fleet locations for deployment, and retail parking.
When it comes to the footprint of the charger, it seems to be similar to that of traditional gas pumps.
ABB Continues their Success Story
ABB is a company that became part of the e-mobility market in 2010 and has already sold more than 460,000 electric car chargers throughout 88 markets.
This being said, the Terra 360 is expected to pop up at new locations soon enough. These chargers will be customized with the brand’s name and color using LED strips and will also come with an l27-inch advertising display intended for video and photo playback.
