McDonald’s Teen Employee Hops through a Drive-Through Window to Save a Customer Choking on a Chicken Nugget

The Saturday shift of this teen McDonald’s employee turned into an act of heroism that all the public praised.

The Minnesota resident, 15-year-old Sydney Raley, was on her Saturday shift at the Eden Prairie McDonald’s and didn’t expect to clock out as a hero.

She’s been employed there for seven months and this day seemed just like any other, she was making drinks and coffee and as the lunch rush approached, it all felt normal.

But, little did she know that the next thing that she would have to do is save a person’s life.

A Real-Life Hero: Teen McDonald’s Employee Jumps through a Window to Save Customer’s Life

After she gave the customer a part of the order, she popped back out to tell her that the rest was coming. This is when she saw that the woman was choking on a chicken nugget.

The customer was coughing and gagging. She had her daughter in the passenger seat and she was scared. Sydney told her manager and the daughter to call 911 and she jumped through the window to help the woman.

She went to a Red Cross babysitter class when she was 11  and she knows the Heimlich maneuver. The training kicked in. At first, the maneuver didn’t work so she asked for a bystander to help her out.

They worked together and removed the food from the woman’s throat. The woman was breathing normally again, but she was still shocked. She had no words to express her gratitude for Sydney.

Sydney’s Bravery Gets Recognized by Everyone

When the two officers from the Edina PD arrived to check on the woman, they rewarded Sydney for her bravery.

They gave her $100 and congratulated her for being a hero and lifesaver. The money used was from a fund intended for people that do good work in their community.

Her parents, Tom and Stephanie, were on their way to pick up their daughter Sydney. Her dad saw a police car and an ambulance and was worried that something might have happened to Sydney.

Sydney has autism, a spectrum of conditions causing problems with communication and social skills.

Her employer also recognized the importance of Sydney’s actions. They’re proud of how she helped a valued customer.
