12-Year-old Paints Memory Peg Dolls for the People Who Lost Pets in the Marshall Fire

This 12-year-old girl from Colorado is trying to comfort those who lost pets in the Marshall Fire in a unique way.

The creative girl, daughter of Pavlina Leising who is the owner of the MM Woodworks in Boulder, did something amazing and her mom shared it in the Boulder County Fire Lost & Found Pets group on Facebook.

She wrote “Hello! I wanted to share something my 12-year-old daughter would like to offer to the people who lost their four-legged friends. If you lost your pet in the Marshall Fire or know someone who did, send us a picture and Maya will paint a memory peg doll without charge.”

Girl Wants to Help People Cope with Losing their Pets in the Marshall Fire

Maya’s mom encouraged everyone to share the post fat and wide so that it can reach all the affected.

Many people started asking if they could donate to Maya’s cause of making memory peg dolls with the face of the lost pets; however, her mom declined all of the offers politely.

She responded that their desire to help is thoughtful and sweet, but they’re covering all of the expenses.

Still, she emphasized that if they would like to place an order from Maya which isn’t related to the Marshall Fire, to visit her website because she loves making custom orders.

The Devastating Marshall Fire

Hundreds of structures, including businesses and homes, were destroyed in Boulder County, Colorado after a fast-moving grass fire. There were evacuations in all of Superior and Louisville and this fire grew to be the most disastrous fire in the history of Colorado.

The strong winds pushed the fire and it spread in residential areas and neighborhoods. It spread to around 6000 acres.

5,500 Xcel Energy customers from the Boulder area have no power and 13000 customers don’t have natural gas due to the damages from the fire and the massively strong winds.
