Wonderful: Man Saved Money for a Decade so that He Can Buy an Ambulance for Stray Dogs

Balu is a wonderful animal lover from India who wasn’t entirely sure about what he wanted to do in his life; however, one thing was certain: he wanted to be something involving helping the animals in need, especially stray dogs.

He actually saved up for a decade only to be able to purchase a van and transform it into a one-of-a-kind ambulance service that transports and helps with the treatment of hurt and homeless dogs in Pune.

He drives them to the vet and sometimes even dresses up wounds and administers injections himself. He says he learned it by watching professionals do it.

One-of-a-Kind Service Available to Pet Owners, NGOs, and Animal Rescues

He offers his services to pet owners, but also to NGOs and animal rescues that need animals taken to shelters, vet stations, and sometimes even to his home if they can’t be placed elsewhere.

At first, he was a bit scared of dogs; however, today, Balu says they’re his life and loves his job.

Balu drives the ambulance van and also cares for the ill dogs and cats in his home when necessary; he dresses their wounds and supplies the meds. He funds his service by charging pet owners around 15 cents per mile when they need their animals driven to the vet.

Not Everyone Appreciates His Effort to Help Animals in Need

Balu says that he always has around five to six strays at home; some with broken paws and others with broken legs. He takes them in when there is no available place at a shelter.

Unfortunately, despite his kindness and apparent love for animals, Balu’s efforts aren’t always appreciated by others.

In fact, many people think his work for the homeless dogs is a nuisance. Balu points out how many people praise what he’s doing for strays and this is something that keeps him going,  but there are those who dislike his efforts.

During the years, Balu learned how to administer injections to animals and how to dress their wounds.  Balu has a unique touch for catching the strays; he handles them with perfection and does a very good job, according to one of the animal rescuers that has been working with him.

Despite the backlash by some people, Balu isn’t demotivated and keeps doing the best he can for animals and also earning honest pay for his family. He says this is his way of life now and won’t stop any time soon.
