This Bucks County teen found another use for his hockey stick when he decided to jump into a frozen pond and rescue two boys who had fallen in.

According to Hemberger, they were about to go home when they heard someone screaming for help.

The teens then noticed a 13-year-old boy who fell through the ice into the freezing waters and a friend of his who was trying to reach and pull him out. The boy was screaming and the friend who was trying to help him also fell.

Cory didn’t hesitate for a second and said something told him to go help them out. He rushed towards the boys with his hockey stick.

He explains that it was a moment full of adrenaline. His heart was pumping and he went into the water. He hoped God is with him.

Shawn’s dad, Tim Miller, was sitting in his truck nearby when he heard the screams and noticed the commotion. He jumped out of the vehicle and began running down the trail.

He called 911 immediately.

Cory used his stick to try to help out the boys, but suddenly heard the noise of the ice starting to crack. He knew that he had to do things quickly, otherwise, he would’ve fallen into the ice too.

Cory did manage to pull out the boy and his friend. The boys were shaking and shivering but said they didn’t need medical help.

Cory’s Mom Didn’t Learn about Her Son’s Heroism Until She Saw a Facebook Post

The mom of Cory, Lisa Hemberger, didn’t know what had happened until the following day when she read a post on Facebook.

She was like “oh, my kids play ice hockey, let me check it out.” It didn’t take her a lot to realize that this message was shared by a mom of one of the boys that her son had rescued.

Lisa contacted the mom and told her it was her son Cory who rescued the teens.

Lisa said the mom wanted to thank her for the heroic efforts of her son and tell her that her son is okay and that if it wasn’t for Cory, she doesn’t know what could’ve happened.
