This pizza deliveryman from Tipton in Indiana got a bigger piece of the pie when one customer gave him a tip of a lifetime.
Believe it or not, he got so much more than the 15 percent from a bill. This pizza deliveryman got a brand new car.
Robert Peters, who’s been working as a pizza deliveryman for 31 years, says that he couldn’t believe that this happened to him. It felt surreal being handed the keys.
Representatives of Pizza Hut explain that Peters is one of their employees who’s been with them for a long period of time.
But, Peters says that this isn’t something that most people aspire to do in life.
Pizza Hut Deliveryman Gets Awarded with a New Car
Peters explains that throughout his three-decade career as a pizza deliveryman, people from his life often advised him to try out a job that’s more financially stable.
However, he always explains that his goal in life is to make others happy. And, being a pizza deliveryman helps him put a smile on people’s faces.
Combined with his devotion to good customer service, Peters is a reputable pizza deliveryman in his town. One of his many regular customers is Tanner Langley. Peters, according to Langley, always ensures his customers get the exact amount of change.
Believe it or not, he would drive three of four miles, blizzard or not, to bring the missing 15 cents.
Why does this matter to Peters so much?-Langley believes it’s his moral.
He doesn’t want his customers to feel like they had to tip him because he had no change. After many positive experiences with Peters, Langley felt a need to give him back.
He decided to reward his dedication and performance. He turned to their community and proposed the idea to purchase Peters a new car.
He drove a 93 Oldsmobile.
Good People from their Community Come Together & Gather the Needed Amount of Money in 48 Hours
Within two days after his appeal on social media, Tipton people had donated enough money to buy Peters a Chevy Malibu. They also had enough to buy him insurance and give him gas money.
The total amount of the donation was $19,000. Langley said that the community coming together is a direct effect of Peters’s positive influence on others.
For Peters, the news of people coming together to help him made him feel very good inside.
