Located on the shores of the Ranuanjarvi Lake, the Arctic Fox igloos will place you in first row for the amazing northern light show in Finland.
The igloos are in fact glass domes and they feature a kitchenette and a double bed. They’re facing the lakeshore and each of the igloos allows you to see the northern lights.
Is this heaven?
Luxury Northern Light Experience
On the other side of the igloo, you can find cabin houses with sauna and bathroom. The view from these igloos is definitely surreal, but, believe it or not, there’s a lot more you can do than only gaze into the snowy abyss at this luxurious resort.
For example, there’s arctic safari during which you can explore the wild on snowmobiles, reindeer or huskies. In warmer months, you can have a bike tour in the Ranua forests, see local polar bears or take a canoe across the lake.
This is definitely the perfect choice for people who want to see the northern lights and experience them in an amazing setting. This luxurious resort is in the northern region of the country known as Finnish Lapland that’s located 150 miles north of the Arctic Circle.
When to See the Northern Lights?
Spotting the Aurora Borealis is a main attraction in Kakslauttanen from August until late April. In the summer, the resort offers activities like panning for gold or horseback riding.
This hotel had celebrity guests too like the swimsuit models of Sports Illustrated. The igloo roofs were first built back in 1999 and are made of thermal glass. This allows warm rooms without messing up the view.
And, don’t worry about sharing videos and photos on your social media while in the resort- there’s Wi-Fi at the reception, even though there’s no Wi-Fi in the igloos. This could be the ideal detox from electronics, don’t you think?
