Leaked Video Shows Monkeys, Dogs, Cats Being Tortured In Pharma Testing Lab

A laboratory from Germany is currently under investigation for its terrible treatment of animals after a secretly-shot video by animal activists went viral.

On the video, monkeys are seen being roughly handled by technicians and subjected to disastrous toxicology tests whereas dogs are seen lying in cages full of blood.

The laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology near Hamburg Germany shows the workers grabbing the macaque monkeys by the neck and restraining them in metal harnesses. The painful and aggressive tests they undergo involve different types of needles and tubes.

Animal Abuse Caught on Camera

Allegedly, the primates are being kept in tiny cages and seen spinning and jumping during compulsive and abnormal attitudes.

This laboratory in Germany does toxicity tests for pharmaceutical and industrial companies and has been sharply criticized for their immoral animal treatment.

Animal Activists Go Inside the Laboratory & Secretly Shoot the Animal Mistreatment

A joint investigation by a UK animal protection organization, Cruelty Free International and SOKO Tierschutz, a German animal protection organization was going on during 2018 and 2019.

One of the investigators worked as an animal keeper in the laboratory and was the one who caught the shocking footages.

The laboratory didn’t respond to all requests for comments on the video; however, they did state that they’re cooperating with authorities for the current investigation.

The joint investigation from the above-mentioned organizations concluded that the beagles were ‘left to suffer when it was more than clear that they’re very sick and even dying’ and that ‘the monkeys were wrenched from their cages and restrained in barbaric devices’.

Director of science and regulatory affairs from Cruelty Free International, Dr. Katy Taylor emphasized that their investigation has uncovered the secrecy on the use of animals in toxicity tests and exposed the laboratory’s failing to adhere to the 3R’s and follow through the minimum care and protection level for animals that’s compulsive under German and EU legislation.

The German Animal Welfare Act allows animal research when the aim of such experiments can’t be done with any other method and they have noted that ‘no one may cause an animal pain, suffering or harm without a good reason’.

Cruelty Free International is calling for review of animal regulation concerning toxicology testing in Europe.
