Two albino sisters have stirred their home country Kazakhstan and raised questions among the doctors and the public about their real father.
The two girls, Asel and Kamila Kalaganova, are born 12 years apart and both are albino and in-demand models in their home country.
Kamila is 2 and her elder sister is 14. They also have a brother who’s 8 but he has a more conventional Kazakh-like appearance.
Asel explains that people are often surprised by them being albino. A lot of people actually don’t know what albinos are, she further added.
Mother Can’t Believe The Appearance of Her Daughter
Their mother, Aiman Sarkitova, 38, was shocked when her daughter was born and doctors suspected the girl had a Russian father.
It wasn’t until she was 10 that Asel began modeling while Kamila is a teen with more than 23,000 followers.
She Had Albinos in Her Ancestral Line
The mother found out later that she had albino ancestors.
Her girls need to take good care of their skin and stay out of the sunlight. They always apply sunscreen and wear clothes that protect their skin.
The evenings are much easier for them.
The girls struggled with eye issues and Asel wears glasses. At a younger age, she also went to a special school, but was later transferred to a normal one. She is a perfect student, said her mother.
In the beginning, it was hard because other children stared at her. Whenever they go, they attract attention. Asel recently finished modeling school.
Their brother’s skin looks exactly like their father’s. His skin is dark- a real Kazakh. The boy often asked why he isn’t like his sisters and why they are like that.
Today, he is proud of his unique sisters. Their mother encouraged the girls to meet and discuss with other Albino teens who maybe share the same or similar struggles.
The family is considering moving to a city with a more temperate climate like their capital Nursultan. This is because Aktau, where they now live, is very hot and humid. The girls go to school with sunglasses and an umbrella.
