Teen Whose Truck Was Tossed around in a Tornado in Texas Is Gifted with a New Ride

A video of this teen’s pickup truck being flipped over by a tornado went viral and this is how he got a new truck thanks to the kindness of a Chevrolet car dealership in Fort Worth.

The Elgin teen Riley Leon, 16-year-old, was contacted by Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet and informed that they want to gift him with a new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado.

The 16-year-old Leon was driving home on US Highway 290 from an interview with Whataburger when the truck got flipped over on the driver’s side by a tornado.

It then flipped back onto the wheels before Leon drove away from the messy scene.

The video of this moment was shared on Twitter by Brian Emfinger, a storm chaser, the day after a tornado outbreak pulled throughout Central Texas.

Leon Gets a Brand New Truck for Free

On March 26th, the dealership representatives gifted Leon with his brand new truck, as well as another surprise: $15,000! Leon’s brother took the video of his 16-year-old brother being given the new keys.

According to Leon, the tornado looked like it came out of nowhere. When he landed back on his wheels, his hands were on his lap and he saw everything and was like nothing had happened.

He wasn’t very scared, but this situation shocked him.

However, after he pulled over on US 290, he saw that his truck was dented and scratched from the glass that had shattered. He was broken that his hard work was gone. It was a family-owned truck, but his dad passed it on to him and he paid it off.

Thanks to the courtesy of Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet, Leon is now the owner of new wheels.

A preliminary report released by the NWS notes that the Elgin tornado was an EF-2 tornado with winds that reached 130 mph and a track length of 14 miles.
