Firefighters Save a Man from a Heart Attack & then Finished the Yard Work for Him

A man was having a heart attack in front of his home while working in the yard. The first responders didn’t just save him, but they also finished his yard work for him.

The man, Gene Work, from Pasco County in Florida was racing to get the sod down on a Saturday to prevent a fine from their homeowner’s association.

His wife, Melissa, wrote that while he was having a heart attack in the yard, he kept begging her to figure out the sod because he didn’t want it to go to waste and die. She added that this was all he talked about while experiencing a major heart attack!

In the meantime, the firefighters came to the scene and took Gene and his wife to the hospital.

But, little did the family know that they would also finish their yard work for them.

Melissa’s brother-in-law stayed at the home so that he can finish the four palettes of sod that remained. While he was working clearing the old grass and setting up new rows of sod, he heard some engines.

A firetruck and an ambulance pulled up. Seven firefighters came out of the vehicles and said they came to help him out.

They knew Gene was in trouble and wanted to ensure the sod doesn’t die. This was confirmed by the Pasco County Fire Rescue in a post on Facebook. They wished Gene a fast recovery.

The Firefighters Went Above & Beyond for this Family

They explained that helping their community when they’re needed is pivotal.

And, the crew from Station 10 did just that. Gene’s wife was amazed by the crew’s kindness because they went above and beyond.

She said how they saved his life and then took them to the hospital. They also cared enough to save their yard’s grass!

The firefighters, she added, didn’t know what her family was going through. They only saw someone who needed help and they stepped up for them.

This wasn’t part of their job, but they were kind enough to do it for them.
