Gas Station Is Selling Fuel below the Average Price: “We’re Helping Our Community”

The owners of a gas station in Phoenix who practice the Sikh religion wanted to help their customers when they needed it the most.

And so they did. They did this by lowering their gas prices. They’ve been doing a similar practice for the winter holidays; however, with the gas prices skyrocketing all over the country, they decided to do it earlier.

According to one of their customers, Lindsey, who was pumping gas at the station, the prices were so low she first thought it was certainly a mistake.

Gas Station in Phoenix Decides to Help Its Customers During These Challenging Times

The residents of Phoenix will usually see the price of $5.99 at the gas stations; however, the price is different at Food Mart on Osborn Road and 20th street.

There, you can get gas for $4.99 and this price reduction makes all the difference to vehicle owners.

According to CK Food Mart owners, Jaswinder Singh and Ramandeep Kaur, they’re now having customers from California and from the entire country.

Their decision to reduce the prices by around 60 to 70 percent to that of their competitors is out of pure intention.

Their religion is also a motivator and they’re well aware of the financial struggles that families are facing today. The owners also explained that it’s their community, neighborhood, and customers that they’re helping save some money if possible.

They want them to spend the money on other things like food.

Is Not the Gas Station Losing Money by Doing This?

The gas station isn’t necessarily losing profit, but they’re not making any either.

They no longer accept credit cards since they’ve been getting calls from banks after some customers claimed they never filled up their tanks so the couple had to cover the costs.

However, most customers are beyond grateful. Lindsey drove 95 miles for work so it’s a chance she can’t miss out. She’s grateful to be able to fill up her tank at a lower price.

For the owners, by doing this and helping out, they feel like they’re making a difference. Although they’re not exactly sure for how long this low price can keep going, they said they’ll do their best to keep it as long as possible.

US oil refiners were called by President Joe Biden to increase the production of diesel and gasoline. He said that their profits tripled during the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Americans are having a hard time with the record-high prices at pump stations.
