Mom of 4 Spends Dumpster Diving All Day. She Furnished Her Home & Makes Up to $80K

This mom of four spends around six hours per day scavenging dumpsters and claims she earned more than $80K by reselling the items she finds.

The woman from Texas, Tiffany Butler, spends her day searching through big brand store bins. She’s found everything from premium cosmetics and furniture to antiques.

The 32-year-old Tiffany is raising four kids with her husband, Daniel Roach.

She claims that she hasn’t had to purchase any makeup or hygiene products for the last two years.

She’s also furnished their home with stuff she found from the trash bins, including beds for the kids.

Moreover, she’s also opened up a business. She sells the items she locates from the trash bins. She has found vacuum cleaners, rings, necklaces, headphones, and dog food.

Mom Earns Money by Dumpster Diving Whole Day

Tiffany explains that she’s found every possible kitchen appliance.

However, her personal favorite is a pressure cooker which was probably worth some $200. She’s also found toaster ovens, pots, pans, coffee makers, Ninja blenders, and plenty of cutlery and dishware.

She would also find big boxes of Ulta makeup every week and everything was unopened.

One time, she found a Nars mascara worth more than $26, a Kylie Jenner lip kit worth around $33, and an eyeshadow palette by Morphe worth more than $13.

Tiffany has also furnished her home with furniture from the bin. Some of the items are the Ikea couch and a new dresser worth $200.

She also goes near pet stores. In their bins, she’s found everything from premium dog food to live bugs which she gives to her lizard pet.

Once, she found 60 Xebec Tri-Screen monitors with a retail value of nearly $30K!

The busy mom has also found seasonal items like costumes for Halloween, birthday cards, and decorations for Christmas.

How Did Tiffany Become a Thrifter?

The mom started to dumpster dive after she saw an advert about a garbage haul at an Ulta Beauty store. She was inspired to check out her local dumpster.

As a big makeup fan, she watches a lot of makeup tutorials and this is when a YouTube advert came on. She watched it and told her partner that she will go and have a look at the local Ulta bins to see if she finds something.

She was shocked that she found boxes and boxes of makeup. This was the start of her thrifting career. With all the amount of items she was bringing back home, it was overwhelming. She filled their garage pretty fast.

She sells some of the items on Poshmark. The first time, she made around $5000. She quickly realized that she will need a bigger space to store the items for selling. Today, she has a warehouse to store the stuff she finds.

Companies Create a Lot of Waste, Claims Tiffany

She is renovating it and redecorating her warehouse with things she finds from thrifting. The busy mom says that it’s crazy how she created a business. She claims companies are wasteful and this is something that needs to end.

However, everything companies throw away is insured, so they simply don’t care because they will get replacements. So, their loss is now her and her family’s gain.

You can follow her thrifting journey on social media and through her website where you could also purchase items she sells, i.e., DumpsterDivingMama.

It’s now been five years since she and her husband started dumpster diving. And, a year ago, she quit her old job to dedicate herself to her new job.
