Toxic Teeth: How Root Canal Procedure Increases the Risk of Chronic Disease

Although root canal is a common dental procedure which is considered safe, it appears that it is not so harmless after all and it can in fact cause more damage than good, as noted on Healthy Food Team.

According to statistics, in the U.S. solely, more than thousands of root canal procedures are performed on the daily or 25 million procedures on a yearly basis. Unfortunately, patients and some dentists are unaware about the serious health damage that this specific procedure can cause. Let us learn more about the controversy surrounding root canal procedures.

Root Canal Procedures: Doing more Harm than Good?

Although the American Dental Association claims that this procedure is safe, there is no published research or data proving such claims. On the other hand, for the purposes of a book titled Root Canal Cover-Up, the authors dedicated more than two years to studying the effects of this common dental procedure.

It was discovered that there is a close connection between this procedure and serious illnesses such as joint ache, arthritis, heart illness, neurological disease, autoimmune disease, and kidney disease, as well as a potential connection between root canals and breast cancer.

What Dentists Do not Know about the Teeth Anatomy

According to Wake Up World, the teeth are made from the strongest substances in the body. Each tooth has a pulp chamber, a soft living structure which is comprised of nerves and blood vessels. Dentin surrounds this pulp chamber and it is made of living cells which release a mineral substance. The hardest, outer tooth layer is known as white enamel and it encases the dentin.

Each tooth’s root descends into the jawbone and it is held by the periodontal ligament. At dental school, dentists are being taught that each tooth has one to four main canals. However, there are additional canals which are not mentioned.

Similarly to the body having big blood vessels branching down into smaller capillaries, the teeth have a maze of tiny tubules which may extend for up to three miles if stretched out. As seen on Wake Up World, there may be as many as 75 distinct accessory canals in one front tooth.

During a root canal procedure, the tooth is hollowed out and then the chamber is filled with a substance that is known to cut down the blood supply of the tooth and fluid is no longer able to flow through the tooth; however, the tiny tubules remain. The bacteria, which are deprived of their food supply, pile up in these tunnels where they are hidden from antibiotics and the body’s immunity.

Because of the insufficient oxygen and nutrients, these organisms turn into stronger anaerobes which can now make strong toxins. These once-friendly bacteria are now transformed into toxic pathogens which are waiting for an opportunity to spread.

Root Canals Can Cause Serious Health Complications

As explained on Wake Up World, as long as your immunity is strong, any bacteria which manages to get out of the tooth is caught and eliminated. However, when the immunity weakens due to a disease, an accident or some other trauma, the immune system may not have the capacity to avert the infection from spreading. As a result, the bacteria will be able to move into the tissues and then into the bloodstream from where they are further transported to other parts of the body, for example, a tissue, a gland or an organ.

How to Avoid Root Canals

If you have a root canal, some experts recommended removing the tooth, even if it looks fine. And, to avoid worsening your health, opt for tooth removal instead of a root canal procedure. There are numerous other safe dental procedures for a removed tooth that you can opt for, i.e. partial denture, bridges, or implants.
