DIY Dandelion Oil Recipe
Of course, you can head to the nearest supermarket or health store and purchase your dandelion oil; however, you can also make your own at home without spending too much. You just need a chemical-free dandelion source and you are good to go!
You will also need:
A bowl of fresh dandelion flowers
Base oil like almond or olive oil
2 glass jars
A glass bottle
Preparation: First, cut the flower heads from the plant. The amount should be enough to cover half the jar. Now, spread them on a cloth and leave them for 24 hours. This is important so that they can dry out- dandelion tends to retain a lot of water.
If you skip this step, you will end up with excessive moisture in the oil. The next day, fill the jar with the flowers and pour enough oil to cover them. With a spoon, stir the content gently and then close the jar. Put the jar in a warm and sunny area for 2 weeks. Check the oil every two days or so and shake it gently.
After the 2 weeks have passed, use the cheesecloth on top of the strainer and pour it over into a previously sterilized bowl. Mash the flowers and squeeze the cheesecloth to ensure every drop has been included. Close the jar and keep it in a cool and dry area.
Make sure to use it within a year. A good reminder is to place a label with the date when you made it.
