After Couple Won £2.6 Million on Lottery, Their Son Went Cancer-Free

This couple from England felt like all of their lifelong dreams are coming true- they won the lottery on Christmas in 2019, only several days before their teen son was given a cancer-free diagnosis.

The couple, John and Allison McDonald from Stockton-on-Tees in County Durham, won £2 million in one of the last 2019 draws.

John is 62 and he checked the ticket he had while working as a security officer on the 18th of December and thought he matched only 2 numbers.

But, soon enough, he noticed three more!

He was over the moon.

He realized he had 6 numbers matched and remembers his legs beginning to tremble. He called to confirm the win.

Even Better News Came: Their Son Was Cancer-Free

Only three days later, they got even much better news-their 15-year-old boy Ewan was cancer-free. He was previously diagnosed and received treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for an entire year.

The family had quite a hard time; John worked 70 hours per week while Allison who is 49 worked in the optician field. But, since they won the lottery, both gave their notices at work.

John explained that all of this felt like their lifelong dreams came true only in three days.

Their start to 2020 was amazing. John also said he never believed that they would win the lottery on Christmas. And, hearing about their son’s cancer-free diagnosis made things wonderful.

The family is beyond thankful.

The couple has started to plan their family time and retirement-both at home and abroad.
