97-Year-Old Says Her Motivation to Attend a Family Wedding Helped Her Fight Off Cancer

The 97-year-old Tennie Burkett Ivy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 in the midst of a global pandemic. She thought this was going to be the end for her; however, she couldn’t stand the idea of missing out on her grandkid’s wedding.

Ivy said that she had to attend the wedding because she’s been to all three. It was in Greenville, South Carolina, so she had to go to that one as well.

She persevered and attended the wedding of her third grandkid, despite the treatments, including surgery, chemo, and radiation.
