Ancient Yoga Technique Can Help 41 Million People Throw Out Antidepressants

As seen on The Mind Unleashed, a yoga technique known as Kriya yoga may be highly beneficial for people suffering from depression. Unfortunately, according to statistics, 41 million people are taking some antidepressant in order to deal with their depression and anxiety. Hence, this single yoga practice, which was tested clinically, may be the answer to the antidepressant abuse which has been exponentially growing in the last years. Let us learn more about Kriya yoga.

What Is Kriya Yoga?

Sudarshan Kriya is a technique of proper breathing used by yogis to boost relaxation, better the functioning of the organs, alleviate stress, and regulate numerous psychophysiological states. Also known as “manipulation of breathing movement”, this technique was found to boost the immunity and improve nervous system imbalances. It has been used as a low-risk and low-cost addition to treatment for anxiety, stress, PTSD, depression, and substance abuse.

The Study on Kriya Technique

The study which was published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry dwells on the science behind using this controlled breathing technique to fight off depression. This study is crucial if we take into consideration that antidepressant abuse has been increasing and that they come with a lot of dangerous side effects. This breathing technique appears to be a more safer and effective way to beat depression and a promising low-cost therapy which could be the solution to the overuse of antidepressants in the U.S., but elsewhere too.

The participants in the study who performed Kriya yoga, as seen on The Mind Unleashed, experienced significant betterment in their HDRS scores (self-reported Beck Depression and Beck Anxiety Inventories), which was not the case with the waitlist group.

According to Vinod Menon, Kriya helps people eliminate toxins which exist beyond the cellular level. Check out this video to learn more about what he has to say in regards to this yoga technique:

Interestingly, Nikhil Toke claims that kriya was the main “culprit” for getting his advanced physics degree:
