These Fast Food Chains Add Beyond Meat to their Menus

Beyond Meat, the plant-based protein maker will now be available on menus at Hardee’s and Carl’s.

This decision comes after a large number of other fast food restaurants like Burger King, Dunkin, and KFC decided to offer alternative menus to their customers.

Hardee’s will offer Original Beyond Thickburger for lunch with a Beyond patty, lettuce, cheese, tomato, and onion in a bun.

Beyond Meat Is Thriving, People Want Plant-Based Options

Carl’s has sold more than 6.7 million Beyond Burgers and this is their most successful product launch, according to senior VP of CKE Restaurants, Patty Trevino.

The decision to add more plant-based options comes after Carl’s decided to attract a broader audience. They ceased promoting their beef burgers in commercials with celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton in 2017.

This chain, along with Hardee’s, will join other chains that have added Beyond Meat on their daily menus. KFC, Burger King, Del Toro and other chains are already offering meatless tacos, nuggets, and burgers.

Beyond Meat, already a Household Name

Beyond Meat is a plant-based alternative brand which has been already making its way into the menus of the most meat-wise restaurants.

In the past, the choices for meatless menus in America were quite limited.

However, this is no longer the case. 2019 has been a major year for plant-based meat, claims Caroline Bushnell, associated director of corporate engagement for the Good Food Institute.

She explains that this is only the beginning and that we’re in the early period of a significant shift.

Since October, the sales of plant-based meat in the US have brought in $946.6 million which is 10.2 percent more than last year. According to the Good Food Institute, the sales could reach $1 billion in 2020.

The demand for plant-based food has increased thanks to the higher awareness in people for eating healthier food and being more animal-friendly, especially among millenials.

Karen Formanski, health and nutrition analyst from Mintel explains that consumers that fuel this market are individuals who do consume meat sometimes.

She believes the meat industry isn’t threatened; however, she explains that the demand for plant-based food will rise as people want to have variety.
