Because of the pandemic, millions of children have started this academic school year virtually.
Distance learning has its perks, but also has its flaws and it can be a challenge, especially for those who don’t have access to the electronics which enable the virtual learning.
Some families don’t have internet, other families don’t have smartphones and computers, etc.
Luckily, these families can now have it easier thanks to some amazing people.
Thanks to this generous and talent man and his woodworking skills, he helped ease the challenging times for parents whose children are learning from home.
Man Builds 35 Desks for the Local Kids to Learn from Home
Mitch Couch, a woodworker by trade, decided to use his free time wisely-he decided to ease things for the children in his community. He has been making wooden school desks and gave them to the children in his community who needed the most.
He came up with this idea on the 3rd of September when he shared an Instagram photo of a desk he made for his children and wrote how it wasn’t difficult and expensive to make it.
He also added that his two kids took up space at the kitchen table before this wooden desk and was a real hassle when it was meal time so he decided to make them special desks.
The cool thing about the desks he makes is that they can be later folded away when not needed and free up space. He also wrote that people who want to make their own can purchase the design on Etsy for 99 cents only.
He says he made his tables for $35 only.
Couch Agrees to Help Out the Children in Need
After he shared the story for the wooden tables on Instagram, local business owners contacted him to ask if he could make some more to be donated to schools in their community.
He didn’t hesitate in any moment and agreed right away.
He wrote that they asked him for 25 desks to begin with. However, the need was higher so they decided to make it 35.
His amazing wife helped him through the process and even surprised him by making four desks herself while he was at work.
Their ultimate goal is to construct 100 wooden desks and donate them to the ones who need them the most.
What an amazing gesture! What do you think about this? Would you do a similar thing if you could?
