Regular and healthy sleep is pivotal for the overall health and wellness of a person. However, not all people are getting the sleep they need. In fact, a study by the CDC found that more than one in three American adults aren’t getting enough hours of sleep.
Insufficient sleep stresses our body and mind, drains our energy, lowers our productivity, and elevates our chance of illnesses like hypertension and diabetes. When people aren’t able to get the sleep they need, turning to natural sleep aids as melatonin may help.
Why Is Melatonin Important for a Regular & Healthy Sleep?
This hormone is naturally produced by a gland that’s located at the brain’s base, known as the pineal gland, but also by other parts of the body like the retina.
It plays a role in the regulation of our circadian rhythm. Melatonin also participates in the regulation of hormone levels, blood pressure, and body temperature.
Considering the importance of melatonin, we’ve decided to share a recipe for one of the best natural melatonin supplements today. It’s easy to make and can help you get the much-needed rest at night and function optimally during the day.
Let’s check out the recipe for these melatonin gummies!
Homemade Melatonin Gummies for Calm Sleep
You will need:
Liquid melatonin
½ cup of tart cherry juice
½ cup of water
¼ cup of gelatin powder
3 tbsp of raw honey
Silicone mold
A small pipette
Preparation:
Bring the cherry juice and water to a simmer.
Then, add the powdered gelatin and mix it into the juice. Add the honey now and gently whisk the content for two to three minutes until the gelatin dissolves.
Then, using the pipette, pipe in liquid melatonin and transfer it into the silicone molds. The amount depends on the size of the cavities.
When all cavities are filled, transfer the mold into the fridge for two hours.
Then, remove them from the mold and keep them in an airtight container. Keep them in the fridge for up to two weeks.
When to take this melatonin gummy?
Take a gummy some half an hour before your bedtime.
