The Amazing Properties of Magnesium
Magnesium is important for more than 300 enzymes which the body requires in order to be able to regulate a long list of reactions, including synthesis of protein, muscle and nerve function, blood glucose, blood pressure, and synthesis of DNA, RNA, and glutathione.
The best way to supply our bodies with magnesium is through foods like legumes, nuts, seeds, spinach, and whole grains, but nowadays, this has become quite difficult if we take into consideration the problem with the magnesium depletion from the soil. Homemade Magnesium Balm
You will need:
Highly-concentrated magnesium chloride flakes
Virgin coconut oil, unrefined
Unrefined shea butter
Beeswax pellets
Boiling water
Mason jars, quart-sized
Mixing bowls, 2
Cup for measuring
Essential oils, for scent
Preparation: Add half a cup of magnesium flakes into a bowl and fill another one with half a cup of almost-boiling water. Add 3 tbsp of the boiling water into the magnesium flake bowl and mix until the flakes dissolve. Leave it aside.
Then, in one of the jars, mix equal amounts of coconut oil, beeswax, and shea butter. Put the jar in a small pan with an inch of water and place it on the stove. Turn it on medium-high heat. Wait for the ingredients to melt and stir occasionally. Once they have combined, remove the jar from the pan and leave it to cool down. Then, add the dissolved magnesium into the jar. Add a couple of drops of your favorite essential oil for a pleasant scent and blend with a hand blender to ensure that all ingredients are well combined.
How to use it: Use the balm to massage it throughout the body, preferably an hour before going to sleep.
