Healing the Body Naturally with Homemade Chicken Broth

Did you know that bone broth is one of the most potent healing foods today, especially the chicken one?

Abundant with numerous nutrients such as gelatin, glycine, and collagen, chicken bone broth protects and heals the lining of the gut, betters the health of the skin, and enhances joint function.

However, in order to get the most from bone broth, you should make it at home. This is because you can’t know how the broth was made if you buy it from the supermarket.

The long-cooking time (at least 24 hours) is one of the health-boosting effects that optimizes the nutrients. And, don’t worry. We have you covered.

Below, check out the best healing recipe for homemade chicken bone broth.

Homemade Chicken Bone Broth

Prep time: 48 hours

*suitable for gluten-free, ketogenic, low-carb, and paleo diets

You’ll need:

4 pounds of chicken (wings, feet, necks)

3 carrots, chopped

3 stalks of celery, chopped

2 onions, with the peel on, sliced in half and quartered

4 garlic cloves, with the peel on, smashed

A tsp of Himalayan salt

A tsp of peppercorns, whole

3 tbsp of ACV

2 bay leaves

3 sprigs of thyme

5 sprigs of parsley

A tsp of oregano

18 to 20 cups of cold water

Prep:

Put all of the ingredients in a 10-quart slow cooker. Pour the water. Simmer for 24 to 48 hours, removing fat occasionally.

Afterward, remove it from the heat and leave it to cool down a bit.

Take out the solids and strain the broth into a bowl using a colander.

Leave the broth to cool down at room temperature, cover, and chill. You can use it within a week or keep it in the freezer, up to three months.

Bone Broth vs. Stock

Although they’re similar, these two aren’t the same. Broth is usually made with meat, veggies, and herbs. Stock also has veggies and herbs but also has animal bones with some meat attached to them.

Broth is cooked for 24 to 48 hours whereas stock needs around four to six hours.

Broth is considered to have optimal flavor and nutrients thanks to the longer cooking which helps them get released.
